SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF SERVER CARDS FOR THE
PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of server cards for
the Public Safety Building Datacenter from General Datatech, L.P. for the
IT Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in account 325-48860-101-002
(Machinery and Equipment) for an amount not to exceed $31,162.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for additional server blades (cards) that will be placed in
the Public Safety Building data center.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as
allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas
Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
General Datatech, L.P. The IT Department and Purchasing staff reviewed
the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing
for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
