SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A WIRELESS ACCESS POINT
FOR PEACH TOWER
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval of the purchase of a wireless access
point for Peach Tower from Scientel Solutions, LLC for the IT Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are currently available in 325-42210-101-002
(Computer Equipment and Supplies) for an amount not to exceed $16,763.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the replacement of the Wireless Access Point on top
of the Peach Tower used to establish communication to traffic signals, lift
stations and remote buildings.
Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with Houston -Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) as allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Scientel Solutions, LLC. The IT and Purchasing staff reviewed the
contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing
for meeting the needs of the City.
