SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF IT EQUIPMENT AND
SOFTWARE LICENSES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of IT network
equipment and software licenses from General Datatech, L.P. for Fire
Station #1.
FUNDING SOURCE: Upon approval, funds are available in the capital project fund 177-48870-
210-003-170002-02 for an amount not to exceed $19,209.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for network switching equipment that will connect
computers, phones and various building controls for the new Fire Station 1
into the City network. This purchase also includes the Wireless Access
Points that will be necessary to connect wireless devices used by the Fire
Department to the City's network.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as
allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas
Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
General Datatech, L.P. The IT Department and Purchasing staff reviewed
the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing
for meeting the needs of the City.
