HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 01 - City Officer Election MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: MAY 22, 2012 SUBJECT: RESULTS OF 2012 CITY OFFICER ELECTION RECOMMENDATION: Canvass the May 12, 2012 City Officer Election for Mayor, City Council Places 1 and 2, and consider a resolution declaring the results. BACKGROUND: There are 27,303 registered voters in the City as of May 1, 2012. The election was held on Saturday, May 12, 2012, with citizens casting a total of 2,131 votes for the following candidates: Mayor AnneMarie Kearney 381 William D. "Bill" Tate 1,713 Council, Place 1 C. Shane Wilbanks 1,680 Council, Place 2 Sharron Spencer 1,666 By adoption of the attached resolution, William D. Tate, Mayor; C. Shane Wilbanks, City Council Place 1 and Sharron Spencer, City Council Place 2, are declared duly elected to said respective offices, subject to the taking of the oath and filing of a bond as provided by the laws of this State and the ordinances of this City. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE 2012 CITY OFFICER ELECTION AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, there came to be considered the returns of an election held on the 12th day of May, 2012 for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 2,131 valid and legal votes; and WHEREAS, each of the candidates !in said election received the following votes: MAYOR AnneMarieKearney ..........................................................................................381 William D. That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law; and that said election was held in accordance with law; and that the following named person was duly elected to the office indicated: Mayor William D. That the said above persons are hereby declared duly elected to said respective office, subject to the taking of the oath and filing bond as provided by the laws of this State and the ordinances of this City.
