SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE EMERGENCY
REPAIRIRE PLACE MENT THAT WAS MADE FOR A
WATER PUMP ON UNIT 31448, JETNAC TRUCK
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider adopting a resolution authorizing the emergency purchase of
pump repair services that was made from Texas Municipal Equipment in an amount of
$17,505.14 for the repair/replacement of one water pump for Unit 31448 Aquatech
Jet/Vac truck in the Wastewater Division of Public Works.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available !in account 100-43430-108-1 (General
Fund/Fleet/Motor Vehicle Maintenance) !in the amount not to exceed $17,505.14.
BACKGROUND:
Recently, staff experienced an unexpected failure with the main water pump for the
small jet/vac truck in the Wastewater Division. The pump could not be repaired and had
to be replaced.
The truck was sent to Texas Municipal Equipment for repair since it was purchased from
this vendor and they specialize in this type equipment. After the unit was torn down and
inspected, the pump was determined to be non-repairable and had to be replaced. The
vendor had the only replacement pump available at the time in the entire State.
The truck is a vital piece of equipment and is used in the daily operations of the
Wastewater Division and needed to be repaired as soon as possible. Fleet Service staff
authorized the repair of the truck with the replacement pump in order to secure the one
available pump and limit the downtime for this piece of equipment.
Staff recommends approval.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE,TEXAS,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO APPROVE THE
EMERGENCY REPAIR/REPLACEMENT MADE FOR A
WATER PUMP ON UNIT 31448, JETNAC TRUCK AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of
Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 252.022
(a)(3)for an emergency repair/replacement of a water pump on unit 31448, Jettvac truck;
and
WHEREAS, the emergency repair was necessary because of unforeseen damage
to the water pump.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE Il F RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas authorizes and
ratifies the emergency purchase of pump repair services from Texas Municipal Equipment
for the repair/replacement of the water pump on Unit 31448, Aquatech Jet/Vac truck at a
cost of $17,505.14.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the emergency repair that was made on said water pump.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 15th day of May, 2012.
