HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 13 - Isolation ValvesMEMOTO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JANUARY 7, 2020 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST FOR QUOTE FOR REPLACEMENT OF ISOLATION VALVES FOR A HIGH SERVICE PUMP NO. 5 RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote for replacement of isolation valves for High Service Pump No. 5 from Legacy Contracting for the Public Works Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund - Water Supply Infrastructure Maintenance budget (200-43360-534-000) for an amount not to exceed $35,494. BACKGROUND: This purchase is needed in order to replace the aged and malfunctioning valves used to isolate our High Service Pump No. 5. In order to perform regularly scheduled maintenance and/or pull this particular pump for service, these valves are critical to ensuring water is isolated for work to be performed. The valves are currently aged at approximately 30 years, which they have exceeded life expectancy. Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted quotations. Legacy Contracting submitted the lowest responsive and responsible quote meeting specifications. Legacy Contracting $35,494. DXP $41,950. Rey -Mar Construction $48,875. Staff recommends approval KM/LW
