SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE EMERGENCY PURCHASE FOR CLARIFIER
CONCRETE CRACK REPAIRS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider ratifying the emergency purchase for clarifier
concrete crack repairs from Western Specialty Contractors for the Public
Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Wastewater Treatment Infrastructure
Maintenance budget (200-43370-534-000) for an amount not to exceed
$32,900.
BACKGROUND: This purchase was for emergency concrete repairs for two clarifiers for
treatment train no. 1. The repairs were required by TCEQ upon a recent
inspection of the tanks.
An emergency purchase order was issued to Western Specialty
Contractors for the clarifier concrete crack repairs on December 10, 2019.
Western Specialty Contractors successfully completed the required work
for their bid of $32,900.
Staff recommends approval.
