SUBJECT: 37" YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
(CDBG) PROGRAM — CONTRACT APPROVAL
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider adopting a resolution approving the Tarrant County contract with
Quality Excavation, LTD in the amount of $146,717.00 for the 37TH Year Community
Development Block Grant street reconstruction project, authorize staff to forward the
approval recommendation to Tarrant County officials, and take and necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
CDBG funding is available for this project in the amount of $163,631.20.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The scope of the project is the reconstruction of the 500 block of East Franklin Street
including new curb &gutter, paving, sidewalks, handicap ramps and driveway approaches.
The roadway reconstruction project is located in the College Heights Addition, CDBG
Target Area, designated as census tract 1137.05, Block Group 2 in the 2000 Census.
These improvements will contribute to the upgrade of the areas by providing an improved
travel surface for motorists and pedestrians in the neighborhood.
There were a total of six bidders on this project. The bids were as follows:

The low bidder, Quality Excavation, LTD, has been identified as an acceptable choice for
this type of project.
Staff recommends approval.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, APPROVING THE 37TH YEAR
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)
PROJECT CONTRACTOR AND CONTRACT PRICE AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas is approving the
hiring of Quality Excavation, LTD as the low bidder for the Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) 37th Year Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine is approving the bid amount of $146,717.00
submitted by Quality Excavation, LTD for the 37 h Year CDBG Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine accepts the construction time on the project
will be 90 days.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas approves the
terms as set forth above concerning the CDBG 37th Year Project to be submitted to the
Tarrant County Community Development Division for approval by the Tarrant County
Commissioner's Court.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
