The Department aims to empower citizens to learn, discover, and live life to the fullest and build a stronger community together. COMMUNITY EVENTS The Grapevine Parks and Recreation Department holds 93 events throughout the year. This includes 13 special events, 10 volunteer events, 70 community and outdoor educational events. THE DEPARTMENT HOLDS EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AWARDS & RECOGNITION Since 1986, the Department has received 174 awards granted by local, regional, state and national organizations for excellence in facilities, programs, marketing, maintenance, and environmental stewardship. One hundred and eleven (111) of these awards have been received since 2009. THE DEPARTMENT HAS RECEIVED AWARD THE REC OF GRAPEVINE 1159000 Previously known as the Grapevine Activities Center, the SQ FT FACILITY 115,000 sq ft renovated facility, The REC of Grapevine opened in 2015 with an expanded fitness room, flexible spaces, indoor track, indoor aquatic center, dedicated senior rooms, child-watch facility and custom indoor playground for children. The new facility has better served 18k the needs of the growing community and has proven to be more operationally efficient by combining resources for all MEMBERS ages into a single, multi-generational recreation center. The City also provides transportation for seniors and offers a wide variety of activities and field trips. 100+ CLASSES THE AVINEYARDS CAMPGROUND The Vineyards Campground and Cabins on Grapevine Lake has amenities that include a private boat ramp and private beach, courtesy boat docks, water sport rentals, playground, 101 full hook-up RV sites all with 50/30/20 amp electrical, water, and sewer services and also includes complementary Wil'i and cable TV. The campground has 15 fully-furnished cabins, multiple laundry rooms, family changing rooms with private showers, nature trails, many scheduled free activities, and a group pavilion.
