SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO PURCHASE SERVER PARTS FROM PARITY
CONSULTANTS FOR THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to purchase server parts from Parity Consultants for
the Information Technology Department.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 325-42281-101-12 (Capital Equipment/
Machine Purchase Fund/Apparatus and Tools/City Manager/FY2012 Capital
Acquisitions) in the amount of$30,481.72.
BACKGROUND:
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted
quotations. A copy of the quote tabulation listing all pricing received is attached for
review.
This purchase will be for parts used to build seven host servers. These servers will be
incorporated in our existing VMware infrastructure and will be used to administer the
virtual desktops in our upcoming virtual desktop project. Once all parts of the project
have been purchased, 250 desktops will be virtualized and run in the IT data center on
our VMware infrastructure.
Of the three quotes received, Parity Consultants submitted the lowest quote. Parity
Consultants has provided like product in past to the City with satisfactory results.
Staff recommends approval.
