SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
CHAIRS FOR THE CITY PALACE ARTS CENTER THROUGH
AN ESTABLISHED COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE
STATE OF TEXAS TXMAS PURCHASING PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of 200 chairs for the
Palace Arts Center from Krueger International through an established cooperative
agreement with the State of Texas TXMAS purchasing program.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 115-42281-350-03
(Convention and Visitors Bureau Fund/Apparatus and Tools/Facilities) Ini the amount not
to exceed $33,502.00.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Cooperative Agreement with
the State of Texas TXMAS Purchasing program as allowed by Texas Local Government
Code, Section 279.082 and 271.083, State Cooperative Purchasing Program.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Krueger
International under contract number 3-7110400 expiring on June 9, 2014. CVB staff
reviewed the contract for specification compliance and pricing and determined that the
contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
The Cooperative Purchasing Agreement satisfies all bidding requirements under the
Texas Local Government Code.
This request is for the purchase of 200 chairs to replace the existing chairs in the Palace
Arts Center that have been in use since the renovation of the theatre and are showing
wear and tear.
Staff recommends approval.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO PURCHASE
CHAIRS FOR THE PALACE ARTS CENTER THROUGH AN
ESTABLISHED STATE COOPERATIVE CONTRACT AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of
Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.082
and 271.083 to purchase an item under state contract therefore satisfying any state law
requiring local governments to seek competitive bids; and
WHEREAS, the State of Texas TXMAS Purchasing program is a qualified
purchasing cooperative program as authorized by Section 271.082 and 271.083 of the
Texas Local Government Code; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, has established a Cooperative
Agreement with the State of Texas, # M2201 and wishes to utilize a contract meeting all
State of Texas requirements; and
WHEREAS, the State of Texas TXMAS program has an established contract
#TXMAS-3-7114400 with Krueger International for furniture.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1: That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of chairs for the Palace Arts Center from Krueger International for a total cost not to
exceed $33,502.00.
Section 3: That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said chairs.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 6th day of March, 2012.
