HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06 - 40th Year CDBG ProgramMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL 19 i *8 0.1 all 111 0 SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING — 40th YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION: City Council conduct a Public Hearing to receive input relative to the proposed 40th Year Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program street reconstruction project, authorize staff to proceed with the application submittal to Tarrant County and take any necessary action. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the amount of $47,903.00 in the Street Division Annual PCMF account 174- 43301 -090 and $140,000.00 in Community Development Block Grant Funds (estimated). The scope of the project is the reconstruction of the 500 block of East Texas Street (from Austin to Dooley Streets) including new curb and gutter, asphalt paving, sidewalks on both sides of the road, handicap ramps and driveway approaches. The roadway reconstruction project is located in the College Heights Addition, CDBG Target Area designated as census tract 1137.05 Block Group 2, in the 2000 Census. These improvements will contribute to the upgrade of the areas by providing an improved travel surface for motorists and pedestrians in the neighborhood. The cost estimate for this project including engineering is $187,903.00. Staff recommends approval. 2/12/2014 3:37:06 PM
