Action on adopting an ordinance will be brought back for Council action at a future meeting based on the direction received. Most of the existing ordinance was adopted in 1967, with the last substantial changes made to the City's designated truck routes in 1979. The proposed revisions are intended to accomplish the following key items: • Eliminate duplications and conflicts with state law with regard to vehicle height, length, width, and weight restrictions. • Eliminate language requiring a special permit from the City which is not actually issued by any department. • Consolidate and simplify language to remove ambiguity and aid law enforcement. • Revisions developed in coordination with Police Department & Prosecutor's Office. • Update the designated through truck routes to reflect the current roadway network.
