FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Grant Fund (113-42281-210-010) for a total amount not to exceed $34,900. BACKGROUND: This purchase is for grant -funded dual purpose helmets for the Northeast Fire Department Association Technical Rescue Team. These helmets replace out of date and out of compliant helmets that the team currently uses. These helmets can be used in the harsh environment of structural collapse and in the challenging area of swift water rescue. The helmets come with reflective safety markings and an attached led light. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with Omnia Partners Public Sector as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271 and Texas Government Code, Section 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Safeware. The Fire Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. Staff recommends approval. JS/LW
