HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06 - Construction Materials Engineering and Testing ServicesFROM: • RUMBELOW, • MEETING DATE: MARCH 4, 2014 SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS ENGINEERING AND TESTING SERVICES FOR COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES CENTER City Council to consider awarding a contract for Construction Materials Engineering and Testing Services in the amount of $106,816 plus 20% contingency for the Community Activities Center and authorize staff to execute to Furgo Consultants, Inc. said contract and take any necessary actions. FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 176- 48840 - 009- CACCON -GO for the amount not to exceed $106,816 plus 20% contingency. mi • •- • Construction Materials Engineering and Testing for the expansion of the Community Activities Center is scheduled to start March 7, 2014. The selected firm would provide full service professional testing for construction materials associated with the construction expansion, and renovation of the Community Activities Center. Construction material testing to be performed shall be in accordance with various and appropriate recognized standards and procedures including the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the American Association of State Highway Officials (AASHTO), North Central Texas Council of Government Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, American Institute of Steel Construction (RISC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and other agencies. Staff sent out RFQs with the scope and requirements. The following firms submitted proposals: Alpha Testing, D &S Engineering Labs, FUGRO Inc., and HVJ Associates. The team was comprised of Curtis Bergthold, Paul Lee, and Kevin Mitchell. The team ranked the proposals according to adherence to requested format, thoroughness of provided information, firm's background and related experience, the program team, current capabilities, local representation, financial stability of the firm and the firms past history with Grapevine. The committee selected Furgo Consultants, Inc. based in Fort Worth, Texas to recommend to the City Council. Staff recommends approval. 2/27/2014 (3:32:57 PM)
