FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 100- 48860 -312 -8 (Machinery and Equipment/ Capital Replacement/ Fitness Equipment Replacement) for an amount not to exceed $45,687.60. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102, Cooperative Purchasing Program. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Team Marathon Fitness. The Parks and Recreation staff and Purchasing reviewed the contract for specification compliance and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. Each year the Community Activities Center replaces one third of the cardiovascular equipment in the CAC fitness room. This allows the CAC to keep all of its cardiovascular equipment under warranty and provide its members with the most up -to -date equipment on the market. It also drastically reduces the CAC maintenance budget as commercial cardiovascular equipment only has a three year life expectancy in a high traffic environment. Staff recommends approval.
