HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 07 - Drainage Repair Projects ITE IM, MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 21, 2012 SUBJECT: DRAINAGE REPAIR PROJECTS FUNDING APPROPRIATION RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider appropriating funds from the Stormwater Utility Fund Balance for the design and construction of drainage channel repairs 1 improvements in Denton Creek and in Port America Place in an amount of $771,310 and take any necessary action. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Stormwater Utility Fund Balance account. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Staff is in the process of revising our Capital Improvements Program to a separate program from the annual operating budget process. This project needs to be started prior to the new process and is being requested for City Council approval. In the FY 2011 budget process, the CIP was included in the approval process and included Drainage System Improvements with an anticipated expenditure of$900,000 in FY 2011. Those funds were not spent during the budget year. These improvements can be initiated over the coming months. Staff will provide a detailed presentation of these projects during the Council meeting. Staff requests that the necessary funds for Denton Creek repairs and the Port America Place Channel improvements be appropriated in the amount of$771,310. Staff recommends approval.
