SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR POOL
MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR THE CITY SWIMMING POOLS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to establish an annual contract with four-one year
renewal options with Aloha Pool Service for pool maintenance services for the city
swimming pools.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 100-44540-312-3 (General Fund/
Professional Services/ Parks and Recreation Maintenance) and account 100-44540-
312-5 (General Fund/ Professional Services/ Parks and Recreation Aquatics) in the
amount of$16,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
This request is to establish an annual contract with four-one year optional renewals for
pool maintenance services. This contract will provide all services to accomplish
scheduled cleaning of the City pools at Dove Park and Pleasant Glade Pool including
removing debris, scrubbing, bushing, and vacuuming of pool walls and floors, as well as
complete any normal repair issues that might arise.
This contract will help comply with the sanitization needs required by the Parks and
Recreation Department and the Tarrant County Health Department.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Quotes were requested
from three vendors with only one vendor, Aloha Pool Service, agreeing to the
specifications. A-Reliable pool service is not taking any commercial pool contracts, and
Superior Pool Service policy is that all services include cleaning and chemicals. The City
pools currently have an automated monitoring/ dispensing chemical system. Aloha Pools
has provided this service in the past with satisfactory results.
Staff recommends approval.
