SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF SERVER HARDWARE
MAINTENANCE AND SYSTEM MONITORING SOFTWARE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of server hardware
maintenance and system monitoring software from SHI Government
Solutions, Inc. for the IT Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Misc. Equipment Maintenance budget (100-
43465-101-002) for an amount not to exceed $27,777.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for server hardware maintenance and system monitoring
software for the EMC VNX storage units located in the datacenter of the
Public Safety Building.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as
allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas
Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to SHI
Government Solutions, Inc.The IT Department and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval
