HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 10 - Swimming Pool Sanitation ChemicalsMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: MARCH 18, 2014 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR SWIMMING POOL SANITATION CHEMICALS WITH RENEWALS FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT City Council to consider approval of a resolution for an annual contract for swimming pool sanitation chemicals from DCC, Inc. for the Parks and Recreation Department through an Interlocal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard). 1111 ►171 g, LeY�I�1:7 Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 100 - 42205 -312 -5 (General Fund/ Grounds Maintenance /Parks and Recreation Aquatics) in the estimated annual amount of $20,000.00. BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102, Cooperative Purchasing Program. This contract will be for an initial one -year period with two, one -year renewal options. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to DCC, Inc. Parks and Recreation staff and Purchasing reviewed the contract for specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for liquid chlorine, muriatic acid and other chemicals used to sanitize and balance water chemistry required for the City of Grapevine's Dove Waterpark and Pleasant Glade Pool facilities on an as- needed basis. Po6LL @ f k)o rcAL -S A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO CONTRACT FOR SWIMMING POOL SANITATION CHEMICALS FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT THROUGH AN ESTABLISHED COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102 to enter into a cooperative purchasing program agreement with other qualified entities in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) is a qualified purchasing cooperative program as authorized by Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas has established an Interlocal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) and wishes to utilize an established contract meeting all State of Texas bidding requirements; and WHEREAS, The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) has established a contract with DCC, Inc., contract #436 -13, Water Treatment Chemicals & Equipment; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas has a need to purchase water treatment chemicals to maintain the City's swimming pools. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the contract for swimming pool sanitation chemicals with DCC, Inc. through an Interlocal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) for an estimated annual amount of $20,000.00. Section 3. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to take all steps necessary to consummate the purchase of said product. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 18th day of March, 2014.
