SUBJECT: PARKS & RECREATION BOARD MEMBERSHIP
RECOMMENDATION
The appointments of Roy Robertson, Place ,t, and Ray Harris, Place 2, be extended for
one year to June, 2014 in order to balance the terms and appointments of the nine Parks&
Recreation board members.
BACKGROUND
Section 16-1 of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances provides that the members of the
Parks & Recreation Board shall consist of not less than five nor more than 11 citizens and
qualified voters of the City. The Parks & Recreation Board currently has nine board
members with seven terms expiring in odd numbered years and two terms expiring in even
numbered years.
Mayor Pro Tern C. Shane Wilbanks, Parks &Recreation Board Liaison, recommends that
the terms of Places 1 and 2 be extended for an additional year, from 2013 to 2014, to
balance the process of the board member appointments. Therefore,the terms of Places 1,
2, 8 and 9 would expire in even numbered years (2014) and the terms of Places 3, 4, 5, 6
and 7 would expire in odd numbered years (2013).
