SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST FOR
QUOTE FOR ASPHALT SAND SEALER SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of the award of an informal request
quote for purchase of asphalt sand sealer services from Price Asphalt for
the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Maintenance Fund 177 for an amount
not to exceed $39,875.
BACKGROUND: This purchase will be used for seal coating Main Street from Dallas Road
to Northwest Highway after City Street crews complete various base
repairs. City crews will follow this work with re -striping to match existing
striping along Main Street.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing policy. Formal bids
and advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three
vendors submitted quotations. The low bid submitted by Porky's Paving
was non-responsive due to not providing required data sheets for the
asphalt sealer material being used for the project. The next lowest bid
from Price Asphalt submitted the lowest responsive and responsible quote
meeting specifications.

Intermountain Slurry $82,500
Staff recommends approval
