SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A VEHICLE DETECTION
SYSTEM
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of a vehicle
detection system from Iteris for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Project Fund 177 for a total amount not
to exceed $34,950.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for traffic signal vehicle detection systems at Main Street,
Texas Street, East Franklin Street and East Hudgins Street.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with the State of Texas Term Contracts Program as allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the cooperative and a contract was awarded to Iteris.
The Public Works and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for
departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the
contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs
of the City.
Staff recommends approval
