HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06 - Mobile Computer EquipmentMEMOTO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: MAY 5, 2020 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF MOBILE COMPUTER EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENTS RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of replacement mobile computer equipment from Brite Computers for the Fire Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Operating Supplies budget for the Fire Department (177-42200-210-003-170001-1) for a total amount not to exceed $64,199. BACKGROUND: This purchase request is to approve the purchase of 25 rugged Getac tablets and associated hardware/software. The tablets will be used in the field by Fire Department personnel and will replace existing mobile workstations that are older technology and are at the end of their useful life expectancy. This will ensure that officers and firefighters are using state of the art equipment, which increases personnel safety and efficiency. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Brite Computers. The Fire and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
