SUBJECT: CONSIDER THE SALE OF PROPERTY AT 212 EAST TEXAS STREET
RECOMMENDATION: Consider the sale of property located at 212 East Texas Street, authorize
the City Manager to execute all associated documents, and take any other
necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
BACKGROUND: In late 2017 the City purchased the property at 212 East Texas Street in
order to maintain access to the City parking lot in the rear of the house.
After the sale was complete the property was replatted to retain the
access to public parking and a Historic Landmark was placed on the
property in order to secure the historic nature of the home.
At the time, the decision was made to sell the remainder of the property
through a sealed bid process. As is required by State law, an ad was
placed in the Fort Worth Star -Telegram on April 3 and April 10. In addition,
a "For Sale" sign was placed in front of the house with contact information
to request a bid packet and showing.
The property is currently zoned commercial with a condition in the sale
contract that the sale cannot close until the property is rezoned to
residential. Should a bid be accepted tonight, the request for rezoning of
this property will be considered at the May 19 joint meeting with the
Planning and Zoning Commission.
The bid documents stated that bids would remain open until a satisfactory
bid is obtained. We will present the recommendation for sale based on the
bids received by Tuesday evening, May 5.
