WORKSF�}P, PRC}POSED 19$$-89 BTJDC�?1I` Review o� the FY89 budget cantinued with discussion af the propased revenues : and exp�nditures of the Convention and Visitors Bureau Fund. There was a brief discussion of the telemarketing pragram and the festivals planned for the caning year. Mr. Jim Swann, 101$ Riverside, upda�.ed the Cauncil on the forming of the Lake Grapevine Art.� Council. Con�inuing review of the FY89 budget, Council briefly discussed the Capita.l Projects Fand, Insurance Fund, Firemar�'s Relief & Retirem�nt Fund, and Appenclix A. Council requested that certain items discussec� during fihe budge� workshaps be calculated in the F'Y89 budget e��enditures. CONSIDERATION OF Tf� MINU'I�S City Secretary reconanended approval of the minutes form the August 23, 1988 Special City Council meeting as published. Council Men�r Niedermeier stated Item 2 Executive Session discussion of the severance package should be amended to read "Six months severance pay with existing benefits." Council Member Spencer stated the minutes should also be amended to reflect that Council NlPSnber Niedermeier made the motion to adjourn the August 23, 1988 meeting. Following brief discussion, Council Member Spencer made a motion to approve the minutes as amended. The motion was seconded by Council Nlember Traverse and ' prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Tate, Ware, Glynn, Spencer, Wilbanks, Niedermeier, & Traverse Nays: None ITEM 3. DISCUSS II�'1PIAYMENT PROCESS FOR CITY MANAGER POSITION Mayor Tate announced the Council �uld consider the selection process, advertise.m�ent and recruitinent process for the City Manager's position. Council deliberation ensued with c�nts that a professional search firm (Korn/Ferry) was used during the last hiring process. Council concensus was that a professional firm should be utilized again to screen and evaluate applicants prior to their being intervietaed by the Council. It was determined that a Council Personnel Conmittee would be formed to establish the goals and objectives to be presented to the search firm. The responding firms would be interviewed by the Personnel Conmittee. The Comnittee's recomnendation would then go before Council for appointment of the professional search firm. Mayor Tate reco�nended Council Member Wilbanks be appointed Chairman of the Personnel Comnittee, and it was the concensus of Council that Council Nlesnber Spencer, Council Me.mber Traverse, and Assistant City Manager Kelvin Knauf also ` serve on the cananittee. ; ADJOURI��NT There being no further business to be discussed by the City Council, Mayor Pro Tem Ware offered a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 p.m. Council Member Wilbanks seconded the motion which prevailed by the follawi.ng vote: ' Ayes: Tate, Ware, Glynn, Spencer, Wilbanks, Niedermeier, & Traverse Nays: None PASSID AND APPROVED BY THE CITY OOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 6� day of SePt�nber . 1988.
