HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1997-079 ,�.� ORDINANCE NO. 97-79 �,�� AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AMENDING THE GRAPEVINE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 20-7, RELATIVE TO STREET NAME CHANGES; PROVIDING FOR THE NAME CHANGE OF A CERTAIN STREET; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the east-west entrance to the Grapevine Library, Community Activities Center (CAC)and Convention Center off of South Main Street was named "Municipal Way" on March 7, 1989 by Ordinance 89-18; and WHEREAS, several properties have been platted dedicating the north-south right-of-way in front of the CAC, Library and Convention Center as Municipal Way since the naming of the east-west entrance; and WHEREAS, the City Council awarded a construction contract on May 6, 1997 `� ° to realign the east-west link with Vine Street, to reconstruct this as a normal intersection; and � WHEREAS, it now appears appropriate to rename the east-west link from "Municipal Way" to "Vine Street", as shown on Exhibit "A", attached hereto and made a part hereof, to clear confusion of the east-west link and north-south link being identified by the same name. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1 . That all of the above premises are found to be true and correct and are incorporated into the body of this ordinance as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That Chapter 20, Section 20-7 Street Name Changes of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by the addition of the following street name changes: "Municipal Way from its intersection with Main Street is hereby designated and shall hereafter be known as Vine Street." �` Section 3. All provisions of Section 20-7 not specifically amended herein shall remain in full force and effect and shall not be amended by the adoption of this ordinance. ` ° Section 4. If any section, article, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word in this ordinance, or application thereto any person or circumstance is held invalid or �,,:� unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance; and the City Council here y declares it would have passed such remaining portions of the ordinance in spite of such invalidity, which remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. Section 5. The fact that the present ordinances and regulations of the City of Grapevine, Texas are inadequate to properly safeguard the health, safety, morals, peace and general welfare of the public creates an emergency which requires that this ordinance become effective from and after the date of its passage, and it is accordingly so ordained.
