Boyle, Jr. City Attorney � Linda Huff City Secretary � f: E � R F CALL TO ORDER � � R The meeting was called to order by Mayor Tate at 6 : 05 p.m. � . INVOCATION � ; � F' Council Member C. Shane Wilbanks delivered the Invocation. : .� � i h; ITEM 1 . CONTRACT, IMPROVE RELATIONS BETWEEN CITY OF GRAPEVINE AND k DALLAS/FORT WORTH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, WORTH BLAKE & � ASSOCIATES � The City Council discussed the cooperative relationship that has �: existed between the City of Grapevine and Dallas/Fort Worth � International Airport. Due to changes in personnel at the Airport, � new operational directions being taken by Dallas/Fort Worth � International Airport and aircraft flying over residential areas, � the relations have become strained between the two entities. � Lengthy deliberations ensued relative to strategies for improving � the relations . The proposal submitted by Worth Blake & Associates :< would design and produce a Partnership Enhancement Strategy focused r' on reducing aviation related environmental safety concerns for = improving relations betweeri the City and Dallas/Fort Worth w' International Airport. rv � � I Following lengthy discussion, it is the consensus of the Council � that a full time consultant was needed to assist in resolving the � � issue. � � Council Member Glynn then made a motion to authorize the Mayor to � � � enter into a contract with Worth Blake & Associates to assist in � efforts in seeking relief from the Airport with the problems the � City is experiencing; and that the firm of Worth Blake & Associates � be under the direction of the Mayor and Acting City Manager and the � Council be provided periodic reports at City Council meetings as to � the progress made. Also, that Mr. Blake be hired on an hourly � basis at a rate of $85 . 00 an hour and the Council receive a fee � update on a monthly basis in conjunction with a report to be � presented at the second Council meeting each month. Staff would � assist Mr. Blake when possible at the discretion of the Acting City � Manager.
