White Finance Director Karen Spann City Secretary i CALL TO ORDER II , The meeting was called to order by Mayor Powers. INVOCATION Council M,ember Dyer gave the Invocation. F �. WORKSHOP, PROPOSID 1986-87 BUDGET {` City Manager Dennis Dawson revie�,aed proposed reductions in the 1986-87 budget as presented previously on August 14, 1986. These included three jailers in the Police Degartment, $105,392; soccer field lighting in the Parks Depart- � ment, $112,000; cement treated base material in the Street Department, $288,052; reduction of the capital reserve in the amount of $332,000, among other items, all of which totaled $1.15 million. Mr. Dawson also noted �' General Fund revenue projections had been amended for a mpre conservative view, eliminating $197,500 in Federal Revenue Sharing monies and reducing � estimated sales tax incane by $92,480. Al1 of these revisions netted a ' jreduction in the proposed tax rate of approximately 5.21 cents. The following General Fund departmental requests were then reviewed in detail: ; Library, Public Works, Street, and Ccgnnunity Develo�s►�.nt. Most proposals F remained at current service levels, with the Library requesting expanded hours ' of operation. A new program, the Econanic Develo�xnent Department, was pre- ! � sented at length by Mr. Dawson, who review�ed the proposed scope and purpose of � the departrnent. �; Miscellaneous comments frcan the City Council ensued. The next 1986-87 budget � � wc�rkshop date was set for Wednesday, August 20, 1986. `' � � 4 j ADJOLlRNN1ENT The deliberations of the City Council having been concluded, a motion to � �, adjourn the meeting was made by Mayor Pro Tem Ware and seconded by Council k Me.mber Dyer.
