HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 04 - Mosquito ControlMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JUNE 3, 2014 SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR MOSQUITO CONTROL GROUND SPRAYING SERVICES RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval to renew an annual contract for mosquito control ground spraying services with Vector Disease Control International, LLC through an Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with Tarrant County, Texas. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are budgeted in account 100 - 44540 -415 -5 (General Fund /Public Works /Environmental Services /Professional Services) in the estimated annual amount of $42,000.00. '• Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with Tarrant County, Texas as allowed by Texas Government Code, Section 271.101 and 271.102, Cooperative Purchasing Program. The contract was for an initial one -year period with one renewal option. If approved, this will be the final renewal option available. Tarrant County solicited proposals on RFP #2013 -066 and a contract was awarded to Vector Disease Control International, LLC. The Environmental Manager of Public Works and Purchasing reviewed the contract for specification compliance and pricing and determined that this contract would provide the best product, service and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for mosquito control ground spraying services to control disease carrying mosquitoes, including spraying of adulticides to control the spread of West Nile Virus through mosquitoes. Vector Disease Control International, LLC has agreed to renew with no increase in pricing. We will follow the same West Nile Virus control plan that was used last year which includes spraying in the case of a positive sample. Staff recommends approval. May 29, 2014 (8:40:39 AM)
