MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER 1I, "-
MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 20, 2012
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION TO PURCHASE DRINKING
FOUNTAINS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider a resolution for the approval to purchase drinking fountains from
PlumbMaster, Inc. through an interlocal participation agreement with the Local
Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard).
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 174 - 74015- 059 -000 (Water
Drinking Fountains) for the amount not to exceed $48,523.80.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal participation
agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) as allowed
by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102, Cooperative Purchasing Program.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to PlumbMaster, Inc.
The Parks and Recreation Department staff reviewed the contract for specification
compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. The Cooperative Purchasing Agreement
satisfies all bidding requirements under the Texas Local Government Code.
This purchase is for 13 Halsey Taylor drinking fountains. The Parks Department is in the
process of changing out non - working or poorly functioning drinking fountains throughout
the park system. We have several Halsey Taylor drinking fountains throughout the City
currently and have found it to be a reliable fountain that fits the needs of the community.
Staff recommends approval.
