SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR DRUG TESTING AND
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of an annual contract for
drug testing and occupational health services with Concentra Health
Services for the Human Resources Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Human Resources Department budget in the
General Fund for annual estimated amount of $50,000.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for drug
testing and occupational health services. Concentra medical centers offer
a full complement of health care services including, but not limited to,
substance abuse testing, physical examinations, clinical services,
vaccinations, injury care, physical therapy, and wellness screenings.
Concentra medical centers offer convenient weekday operational hours
and many locations also offer evening and weekend hours.
Transitioning to Concentra medical centers for pre-employment drug
testing, physicals, essential job function screenings, injury care, etc. will
allow City employees the convenience of completing all pre-employment
screenings in one convenient office location instead of having to visit
multiple facilities on multiple days. Concentra medical centers offer 18
DFW Metroplex locations and access to more than 520 Concentra medical
centers nationwide that the City of Grapevine employees will have the
ability to utilize for pre-employment services and injury care services.
Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
cooperative agreement with the City of Plano, Texas as allowed by Texas
Local Government Code, Section 271 and Texas Government Code,
Section 791.
The City of Plano, Texas solicited proposals for Drug Testing and
Occupational Health Services. Concentra Health Services was awarded a
contract. The contract is for an initial two-year period with four, two-year
renewals.
Staff recommends approval.
