A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS RECOGNIZING THE NEED FOR A
NEW FEDERAL INCOME TAX CREDIT TO ENCOURAGE
THE REHABILITATION OF OLDER BUILDINGS FOR
HOMEOWNERSHIP IN THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS
AND URGING ENACTMENT BY THE CONGRESS OF THE
"HISTORIC HOMEOWNERSHIP ASSISTANCE ACT' (HOUSE
BILL 1134/SENATE BILL 496); AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the deterioration and underutilization of older and historic buildings in
the City of Grapevine presents a growing threat to the social and fiscal well-being of the
citizens of Grapevine; and
""�`� WHEREAS, numerous historic houses in the Original Township of Grapevine have
experienced various levels of deterioration; and

WHEREAS, there are not at present sufficient financial incentives to attract
homeowners to rehabilitate older buildings in the Original Township of Grapevine; and
WHEREAS,-a strong base of homeowners is essential to the civic and economic
health of this community, its tax base and its overall quality of life; and
WHEREAS, there has been introduced in Congress the "Historic Homeownership
Assistance Act" (House Bill 1134/Senate Bill 496) which would provide homeownership
incentives for the rehabilitation of older buildings in the College Heights Historic District and
other historic areas in Grapevine through a federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit for
homeowners; and
WHEREAS, the "Historic Homeownership Assistance Act" would stimulate the
revival of older neighborhoods and the preservation of historic buildings in Grapevine
through homeownership.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
� " OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
�� Section 1. That all matters stated in the preamble are true and correct and are
incorporated into the body of this resolution as if copied in their entirety.
Rr � Section 2. That the Grapevine City Council and the Grapevine Historic Preservation
Commission support, endorse and encourage the prompt enactment of the "Historic
Homeownership Assistance Act".

Section 3. That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the entire Congressional
delegation of the State of Texas.
Section 4. That this resolution shall become effective from and after the date of its
passage.
