,,,�,,, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS SUPPORTING CONTINUED
DEVELOPMENT OF A REGIONAL PEDESTRIAN AND
BICYCLE TRAIL SYSTEM LINKING THE CITIES OF
NORTHEAST TARRANT COUNTY; ENCOURAGING
FUNDING OF CRITICAL SECTIONS OF SYSTEM WITHIN
THE CITY OF COLLEYVILLE AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Cities of Grapevine, Colleyville, Hurst and North Richland Hills
have identified the need to develop a regional pedestrian and bicycle trail system along
portions of State Highway 26 and the DART (Cottonbelt) rail corridor; and
WHEREAS, the development of such a trail system will provide recreational and
practical alternative transportation opportunities within the region, thereby reducing
congestion and improving air quality; and
WHEREAS, the full development of such a trail system will require the utilization '
''"""'" of a wide variety of resources available to the regional cities, acting in several phases ;
to complete this important project; and '

WHEREAS, the Cities of North Richland Hills and Grapevine have been awarded ,
funding through programs of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act for
development of portions of the trail system; and
WHEREAS, the City of Colleyville desires to seek assistance in funding portions
of the trail system within the City of Colleyville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1 . That all matters stated in the preamble are true and correct and are
incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. ''
Section 2. That the City of Grapevine supports the continued development of
a regional trail system linking all cities in Northeast Tarrant County. '

Section 3. That the City of Grapevine recommends to the Metropolitan ,
Planning Organization and to the Transportation Enhancement Project Evaluation
�,,, Committee that the Colleyville section of the Regional Trail System be nominated for ;
funding through the Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program. ,

�,�, Section 4. That this resolution shall become effective from and after the date
of its passage.
