RESOLUTION NO. 93-15
�, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS OPPOSING THE FIVE PERCENT RATE
INCREASE THAT PARAGON CABLE HAS IMPLEMENTED IN
THE DALLAS/METRO SYSTEM INCLUDING RATES
CHARGED WITHIN THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS,
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, on February 18, 1993, Paragon Cable notified the City of Grapevine
that Paragon Cable was adjusting its price structure, effective April 1, 1993, resulting
in a monthly rate increase of five (5) percent; and
WHEREAS, Paragon Cable has increased its monthly charges for cable service by
32 percent over the last three years; and
WHEREAS, Paragon Cable has one of the highest rates in the Dallas/Fort Worth
area compared to 33 surveyed cable systems whose average monthly charge is
521 .64; and
'�`'" WHEREAS, the Federal Communications Commission ruled April 1, 1993 to reduce
. cable rates for most services by ten (10) percent as well as reversing any rate
� increases imposed since October 1, 1992; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine continues to receive service complaints about
cable service including programming and channel selections.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1 . That the City of Grapevine opposes the five (5) percent rate increase
implemented by Paragon Cable on April 1, 1993.
Section 2. That the City of Grapevine supports the FCC ruling to reduce cable
rates.
Section 3. That the City of Grapevine strongly encourages Paragon Cable to
improve cable services in the City of Grapevine including programming and channel
,�, selections.

Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
