RESOLUTION NO. 91-2g
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
�+ OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 1991 FOR
THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MUNICIPAL JUDGE;
DETERMINING THE POLLING PLACE; PROVIDING
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CONDUCTING OF
SAID ELECTION; REPEALING INCONSISTENT
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas, has
determined that the formation of a Municipal Court of Record is
necessary to provide a more efficient disposition of cases arising
in the City, and that one Municipal Court of Record is necessary at
this time; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas, has
determined to call an election to enable the citizens to elect the
judge of the Municipal Court of Record; and
�,,.,, WHEREAS, Section 41. 001 of the Texas Election Code provides
for the holding of general city elections on the first Tuesday
after the first Monday in November; and

_ WHEREAS, the City desires to conform its practices with State
law; and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Grapevine, Texas, provides
that the election code of the State of Texas is applicable to the
election of the Municipal Judge, and in order to comply with said
code an order should be passed establishing the procedure to be
followed in said election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That a Special City Election for the City of
Grapevine is hereby called for Tuesday, November 5, 1991, for the
purpose of electing a Municipal Judge.
Section 2 . Al1 eligible City of Grapevine voters shall cast
their ballots at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 South Main
�, Street, between the hours of 7: 00 a.m. and 7 : 00 p.m.
Section 3 . All absentee balloting shall be conducted
pursuant to and in accordance with the applicable provisions of the
�""" State of Texas Election Code.
Section 4 . The Chief Election Judge shall be Mr. Ben
�'� Pearson, and the Alternate Election Judge shall be appointed at a
later date. Said Election Judge shall have the ability to hire up
to ten (10) clerks to assist in holding the election. Mr. Pearson
� shall serve as the Absentee Ballot Board Judge and two (2) or more
of the clerks serving at the polling place shall make up the
members of the Absentee Ballot Board for the purpose of counting
the absentee ballots.
Section 5. The City Secretary shall post in her office the
names of all candidates who have filed their applications in
accordance with the terms and provisions of this order.
Section 6. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and
instructed to provide and furnish all necessary supplies and
personnel to conduct said election. Said supplies and personnel
shall be furnished at the expense of the General Fund of the City
of Grapevine, Texas.
Section 7 . The City Secretary is hereby instructed to
publish notice of said election in accordance with the Texas
Election Code.
Section 8. The Mayor shall issue all necessary orders,
writs, and notices for said election and the returns of said
election shall be made to the City Council immediately after the
`�f� close of the polls and the completion of the counting of the
ballots.

Section 9. This Resolution shall repeal every prior
resolution in conflict herewith, but only insofar as the portion of
such resolution shall be in conflict and as to all other sections
of resolutions not in direct conflict herewith, this Resolution
shall be and is hereby made cumulative,
Section 10. That this Resolution shall be effective from and
after the date of its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, on this the 3rd day of September , 1991.
