RESOLUTION NO. 91-07
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
"'�'° OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS CALLING AN ELECTION FOR
THE FIRE FIGHTERS AND POLICE OFFICERS CIVIL
SERVICE TO BE HELD ON MAY 4, 1991; PROVIDING
SAID ELECTION BE CONDUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CITY OF GRAPEVINE RESOLUTION NO. 91-03 AND IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE CITY OFFICERS ELECTION
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, a petition signed by citizens of the City of
Grapevine, Tarrant County, State of Texas, was presented to the
City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas, requesting an
election be held in accordance with Texas Local Government Code,
Chapter 143 Municipal Civil Service and the Texas Election Code;
and
WHEREAS, said petition requested a proposition be submitted
forthwith to a vote of the people of the City of Grapevine
relative to the adoption or rejection of the fire fighters and
police officers civil service law; and
� -. WHEREAS, said petition contained signatures of qualified
voters equaling at least ten percent (10�) of the number of
voters who voted in the last municipal election; and

WHEREAS, Section 41.001 of the Texas Election Code provides
for the holding of general city elections on the first Saturday
in May; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to conform its practices with
State law; and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Grapevine, Texas,
provides that the Texas Election Code is applicable to an
election for the fire fighters and police officers civil service
law, and in order to comply with said code an order should be
adopted calling said election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby accepts the
petition submitted in accordance with Chapter 143 of the Local
Government Code and in compliance with Chapter 277 of the Texas
Election Code.

Section 2 . That the City Council hereby calls an election
� � pursuant to the fire fighters and police officers civil service
law to be held on May 4, 1991, in conjunction with the Regular
City Officers Election pursuant to the Texas Election Code and
� Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 143 Municipal Civil Service.
Section 3 . That the fire fighters and police officers civil
service law election will be conducted in accordance with the
practices, election precincts, election judges, absentee voting,
and all other requirements and procedures adopted by City of
Grapevine Resolution No. 91-03 .
Section 4. That the ballot shall contain the following
proposition:
"Adoption of the Fire Fighters and Police Officers Civil
Service Law
FOR
AGAINST"
Section 5. That this resolution shall be effective from and
after the date of its passage.
