HomeMy WebLinkAboutD03.0 Fleet Operational Attachment B Appendix: D 3.0 - B CITY OF GRAPEVINE FLEET ACCIDENT RATING PLAN DAMAGE CLASSIFICATION: All damage to vehicles and motorized equipment involving an employee of the City will be classified according to the City of Grapevine Fleet Accident Rating Plan. Employees of the Police and Fire Departments have their own process for accident review and are exempted from this rating plan. CLASS I RATING: This class includes all damage where a City vehicle or piece of motorized equipment is parked at a curb or in any other position where it has a legal right to be. Recommendation: Non-preventable, no prevention action recommended. CLASS II RATING: This class includes all accidents where the vehicle is in motion, but prevention of the accident is beyond the control of the driver. Recommendation: Non-preventable, no prevention action recommended. CLASS III RATING: This class includes all accidents in which the City driver is partially to blame and failed to exercise preventative measures within the driver's control; includes minor infractions of the law and/or safety rules. This category also includes accidents wherein the City vehicle is a contribution factor because it was parked in an unsafe manner or illegal location. Recommendation: Non-preventable, no prevention action recommended. CLASS IV RATING: This class includes accidents where the City driver is chiefly or wholly to blame. If the operator has been negligent, violated traffic laws and/or City safety rules, or used the vehicle for unauthorized purposes, the accident will be designated a class IV accident. Recommendation: Non-preventable, no prevention action recommended.
