The City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in Special Workshop
Session on this the 9th day of August, 1983 at 6:30 p.m, in the Concourse
Center, 3800 Fairway Drive, with the follc�wing mQ.mbers of the City Council

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Tate.
INVOCATION
Council Member Charles Dunn then delivered the Invocation.

Dinner was then served to memUers of the City Council and Admi.nistrative City

WORKSHOP
Mayor Tate advised that the purpose of the special meeting was to conduct a
workshop relative to the 1983-84 proposed budget.
City Manager Jim Hancock then reviewed several of the major changes in the
budget proposal for the 1983-84 fiscal year, which included (1) a 5G increase
in the ad valorem tax rate, (2) expanded use of Hotel/Nbtel Tax �znds in the
Parks & Recreation and Library budgets for historical preservation and
promotion of the arts, (3) an increase in the amount charged other Funds for�
ac�n.inistrative services fran 5� to 7 2�, and (4) a decrease in brush and bulky
waste collection from two times per month to one.
Assistant City Manager Bill Eisen then reviewed an analysis of projected
revenues for the General Fund, and propc�sed expenditures for the follawing
departments were also considered: Administration, Mayor & Council, City
Secretary, Finance, Municipal Court, Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation,
LibraYy, Public Works, and Street.
Though many issues were discussed, no formal Council action was taken.

It was noted the next 1983-84 budget workshop was scheduled for Thursday,
August 18, 1983.

There being no further business to come before the Council, a mr�tion to
adjourn was made by Council Member Oliver. A second was offered by Mayor Pro
Tem Ware, and the mr�tion prevailed by the follawing vote:

Nays . None
