AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 23 , SECTION 26 ,
OF THE CITY CODE OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS , BY
SPECIFYING THE REASONABLE AND PRUDENT
SPEED FOR PUBLIC STREETS AND ALLEYS
6aITHIN THE CITY; AMENDING CHAPTER 23,
SECTION 30 , OF THE CITY CODE OF GRAPE-
VINE, TEXAS, BY ADDING STOP SIGNS AT
CERTAIN LOCATIONS DESCRIBED HEREIN;
AUTHORIZING THE ERECTION OF TRAFFIC
REGULATION SIGNS; REPEALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY NOT TO
EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS
($200 . 00) AND A SEPARATE OFFENSE SHALL
BE DEEMED COMMITTED UPON EACH DAY DURING
OR ON WHICH A VIOLATION OCCURS; PROVID-
ING A SEVERABILITY; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. City Code Chapter 23 , Section 26 , Speed Limits
on Certain Public Streets. Upon the basis of an engineering and
traffic investigation heretofore made as authorized by the
provisions of Section 167 and 169 of Article XIX, V.T.C.S. ,
6701d, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, the following
prima facie speed limits hereafter indicated for vehicles are
hereby determined and declared to be reasonable and safe; and
such speed limits are hereby fixed at the rate of speed indicated
for vehicles traveling upon the named public streets and
highways, or parts thereof, of the City, said speed limit to be
in force and effect unless otherwise limited as prescribed by the
provisions of this ordinance. The streets and highways hereby
regulated, and the maximum prima facie speed limits thereof, are
as follows:
(A) On Spur 382 (Northwest Highway) from Station 13+72
(west city limits of Grapevine , being also the east
city limits of Southlake) easterly to Station 1385+50 ,
approximately 550 feet east of the intersection of Loop
382 and Lucas Street) a distance of 0 .877 mile at 45
miles per hour.
(B) On Spur 382 (Northwest Highway) from Station 1385+50
easterly to Station 1342+50 (appro�imately 100 feet
west of the intersection of Loop 382 and Boyd Street) a
distance of 0 . 814 mile at 35 miles per hour.
(1) School Zone - From Station 1384+00 , easterly 0. 167
mile to Station 1375+20 , at 30 miles per hour when
so signed for school crossing; 35 miles per hour
all other times.
(2) School Zone - From Station 1354+50 , easterly 0. 189
� mile to Station 1344+50 , at 30 miles per hour when
i so signed for school crossing; 35 miles per hour
� all other times.
� (C) On Spur 382 (Northwest Highway) from Station 1342+50 ,
easterly to Station 568+06. 694 near the intersection of
Loop 382 and the northeast Frontage Road of State
Highway 114 , a distance of 4. 533 miles at 45 miles per
hour.
(D) On Oak Creek Drive from the intersection of Timberline
Drive to the intersection of Cresthaven Drive, at 20
miles per hour.
Section 2. The City Code of the City of Grapevine, Texas,
Chapter 23 , Section 30 , is hereby amended by adding stop signs at
the following described locations:
(A) On southbound Oak Creek Drive at Columbine Drive.
(B) On northbound Oak Creek Drive at Columbine Drive.
(C) On southbound Oak Creek Drive at Wentwood.
(D) On northbound Oak Creek Drive at Wentwood.
(E) On eastbound Canyon Drive at Oak Creek Drive.
(F) On westbound Canyon Drive at Oak Creek Drive.
(G) On eastbound Wentwood at Oak Creek Drive.
(H) On westbound Wentwood at Oak Creek Drive.
(I) On eastbound Oak Forest Drive at Oak Creek Drive.
(J) On westbound Oak Forest Drive at Oak Creek Drive.
Section 3 . That the City Manager, or his agent, is hereby
authorized to have speed limit signs and/or stop signs erected,
constructed, and placed at such points along said highways,
streets , or alleys , or portions thereof under construction,
maintenance, or repair, so that travelers will be reasonably
notified of said traffic regulations.
Section 4. That all ordinances or any parts thereof in
conflict with the terms of this ordinance shall be and hereby are
deemed repealed and of no force or effect provided, however, that
� the ordinance or ordinances under which the cases currently filed
� and pending in the Municipal Court of the City of Grapevine,
Texas, shall be deemed repealed only when all such cases filed
and pending under such ordinance or ordinances have been disposed
of by a final conviction or a finding not guilty of nolo
contendere, or dismissal.
Section 5. Any person, firm, or corporation violating any
of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction in the Municipal Court, shall be
fined in an amount not to exceed the sum of Two Hundred Dollars
($200.00) for each offense and a separate offense shall be deemed
committed upon each day during or on which a violation occurs.
Section 6 . If any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause ,
phrase, or provisions of this ordinance shall be judged invalid
or unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity af
this ordinance as a whole or any portion thereof other than that
portion so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 7 . The fact that the traffic regulations of the
City of Grapevine, Texas do not adequately regulate the traffic
within the City creates an urgency and an emergency and the
preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare requires
� that this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after
its passage and the publication of the caption of said ordinance
� as the law and the City Charter in such cases provides.
