CALL TO ORDER � II . INVOCATION: Councilman Dunn �„�,,, III. EXECUTIVE SESSION A. City Council to recess to the Conference Room to discuss the purchase of real estate pursuant to Article 6252-17 , V.A.T.C.S. , Subsection (f) . B. City Council to reconvene in the Council Chambers and take any necessary action relative to the purchase of real estate. IV. MISCELLANEOUS REPORTS and/or DISCUSSIONS V. ADJOURNMENT The emergency meeting of the Council was called because immediate action is necessary, relative to the purchase � of real estate, to insure the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Grapevine, Texas. � IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 6252-17 , V.A.T.C.S. , AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 227, ACTS OF THE 61ST LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION, THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS THE 7TH DAY OF MAY, 1981 AT 1: 30 P.M. Shirley Ar t g � City Secr ary � STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in Special Session on this the 7th day of May, 1981 at 5: 00 P.M. , in the Council Chambers, 413 Main Street with the following persons present to-wit: William D. Tate Mayor Ted R. Ware Mayor Pro-Tem Charles Dunn Council Member William Shafer Council Member � Marion Brekken Council Member Ron Dyer Council Member constituting a quorum with Council Member C.L. "Larry" Oliver absent, with the following members of the City Staf f: James L. Hancock City Manager Shirley Armstrong City Secretary with City Attorney, John Boyle, Jr. and Assistant City Manager, Bill Eisen absent. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Tate called the meeting to order. INVOCATION �� The Invocation was delivered by Councilman Charles Dunn. EXECUTIVE SESSION Mayor Tate advised that the purpose of the meeting was for the City Council to recess to the Conference Room to discuss the purchase of real estate pursuant to Article 6252-17 , V.A.T.C.S. , Subsection (f) . It was suggested that the executive session was not necessary, and that the full extent of the matter could be made public. Therefore, Mayor Pro-Tem Ware made a motion to waive the executive session. Council Member Brekken seconded the motion and it prevailed by the fol- lowing vote: Ayes . Tate, Ware, Dunn, Shafer, Brekken, & Dyer Nays . None Absent : Oliver PURCHASE OF REAL ESTATE City Manager, Jim Hancock advised that the City was in a position to purchase 12. 15 acres of land in the William Dooley Survey, Abstract No. 422 , for a future City Complex site. He added that the cost was $. 86 per square foot for �, a total cost of $455 , 158. 44 . He added that the cost was below market prices and that the location was excellent for future City use. Mr. Hancock concluded that it was the recommendation of the City Staff that the purchase be made. 05/07/81 It was also noted that the Citizen' s Advisory Committee recommended the site. There being little discussion, Council Member Dunn made a motion to accept the recommendation of the City Staff and purchase 12. 15 acres of land, as described, in the amount of $455 , 158. 44. The motion was seconded by Councilman Shafer and prevailed by the following vote : � Ayes . Tate, Ware, Dunn, Shafer, Brekken, & Dyer Nays . None ,_ �, Absent : Oliver For the benefit of the press, the City Manager explained that the purchase of the property was in the form of a "forced sale" and there was a necessity to close the contract the following day, therefore, being the basis for the emergency meeting of the Council. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, Council Member Brekken made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Council Member Shafer and prevailed by the following vote: ' Ayes . Tate, Ware, Dunn, Shafer, Brekken, & Dyer Nays .
