AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS AMENDING THE CITY CODE, CHAPTER
18, SECTION 18-20 BY INCREASING THE
LONGEVITY PAY TO $4 . 00 PER MONTH FOR
EACH FULL YEAR OF CONTINUOUS SERVICE;
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPE-
,� VINE, TEXAS:
Section l. That Chapter 18 , Section 18-20 , Sub-
section (A) of the City Code is here-
by amended to read as follows :
(A) Policy: Each full-time employee
of the City who shall have already
completed or shall in the future
complete one (1) full year of con-
tinuous service as a full-time em-
ployee shall thereafter receive an
additional four dollars ($4 . 00) per
month as longevity pay for each ad-
ditional full year of continuous
full-time employment, employee shall
receive an additional four dollars
($4 . 00) per month as longevity pay.
The longevity pay shall continue in effect and be increased
accordingly until the employee has completed twenty-five
(25) full terms of continuous service. For all continuous
full-time service after said twenty-five (25) full years ,
'""� the longevity pay will continue at the rate established for
the twenty fifth year.

A full year of continuous service is defined as a continuous
twelve (12) month period ending November 30 , 1980 and ending
on each November 30th thereafter.
Section 2 . Severability - That the terms and provi-
sions of this Ordinance shall be deemed
to be severable and that if the validity
of the personnel policy affecting any por-
tion of the rules and regulations described
herein shall be declared to be invalid, the
same shall not affect the validity of the
personnel policy of the balance of the rules
or regulations described therein.
Section 3 . Declaring an Emergency - The fact that the
present personnel ordinance of the City is
inadequate to properly safeguard the health,
safety, morals, peace and general welfare
of the employees of the City creates an emer-
gency for the immediate preservation of the
health, safety and general welfare of the
employees which requires that this ordinance
shall become effective from and after the
date of its final passage, as provided by
the Charter of the City, and it is accord-
ingly so ordained.
