AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAPE-
VINE AMENDING THE CITY CODE CHAP-
TER 16, RELATING TO PARKS AND REC-
REATION BY AMENDING SECTIONS 16-2 ;
16-4; 16-5; 16-7 AND 16-10 : PRO-
VIDING A PENALTY; PROVIDING A SEV-
ERABILITY CLAUSE AND DECLARING AN

� BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPE-
VINE TEXAS :
SE�TION l. That the City Code of the City of Grapevine
Chapter 16, relating to Parks and Recreation, specifically
portions of Sections 16-2; 16-4 ; 16-5; 16-7 and 16-10 , are
hereby amended as hereinafter noted. All other portions,
parts and sections of said chapter are to remain intact and
are not amended:
" Section 16-2 - The first and second sentences of the
fourth paragraph are amended to read as follows :
There is hereby created an ex-officio
member of the board who shall be nomi-
nated by the Grapevine-Colleyville
School Board, and approved by City
Council. The board member shall be
a Grapevine Resident and school board
trustee. "
" Section 16-4 , Subsection 5 is amended to read as follows :

Have an annual review made of existing
;y�, services and survey of services needed
and interpret the needs of the public
to the City Council and to the parks
and recreation director. "
"Section 16-5 - The definition of Public Parks is amended
to read as follows :
Public Parks : Al1 parks , playgrounds ,
recreational areas owned, leased, oper-
ated or under the control of the city.
This definition includes all athletic
fields, swimming pools, gymnasiums, ten-
nis courts, and other similar facilities
owned, leased or operated by the city ex-
cept city owned and operated golf courses
are not included in this definition. "
"Section 16-7 is hereby amended to read as follows:
The city manager or his duly-appointed
representative is authorized, at his
�"`""" discretion, to designate and mark spe-
cific areas of public parks for picnick-
ing and to allow non-profit groups and
� organizations to obtain temporary writ-
ten permission from the City to hold
functions. Section 16-6 shall not be
applicable to the specifically marked
area.
"Section 16-10 , Subsection (a) is amended to read as follows :
(a) It shall be unlawful for any motor
vehicle traffic to stop, stand, park
or cross onto or into any park, play-
ground, or recreational area owned,
leased, operated or under control of
the City except when City sponsored or
co-sponsored events are being held.
?�°°" SECTION 2 . Penalty Any person violating any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined
r�r $1. 00 to $200. 00 , and each day such violation continues
shall constitute a separate and distinct offense.
SECTION 3. Severability If any part or portion of
this ordinance is held to be invalid or unconstitutional
by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall
in nowise affect or invalidate the remaining portions here-
of not so held invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4 . Emergency The fact that the present ordinances
of the City of Grapevine are inadequate to protect its citizens
within the corporate limits of the City of Grapevine, creates an
emergency for teh immediate preservation of the public business ,
property, health, safety and general welfare of the public which
requires that this Ordinance shall become effective from and after
the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of
Grapevine and it is accordingly so ordained.
