RESOLUTION NO. 84-45
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS, �STABLISHING A SESQUICENTENNIAL
COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the 150th anniversary of the independence of the State of
Texas (the "State") is 1986; and
WHEREAS, the State will be celebrating this historic occasion by
�•� highlighting the historic, patriotic, economic, ct�ltural, environmental and social
aspects of Texas, including the past, present and future; and
�,�, WHEREAS, the Texas 1986 Sesquicentennial Commission createcl by the
Texas State Legislature has contacted the City of Grapevine to coordinate local
� activities in honor of the celebration; and
WHEREAS, the City Col�r�cil desires to establish its own Sequicentennial
Committee for the purpose of coordinating the City's activities with those of
the State in honor of the 150th anniversary of the independence of Texas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GPLAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all of the matters in the preamble are found to be true
and correct and are hereby incorporated into the body of this Resolution as if
copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council hereby establishes a Sesquicentennial
Commission.
Section 3. That the purpose of the Sesquicentennial Commission is to
coordinate local activities with the State celebrating the 150th anniversary of
the independenee of the State and formulate a master plan of activities for 1986
to be adopted by resolution of the City Council.
Section 4. The initial Board of Directors shall consist of no less than
�,,.� eight (8) nor more than twelve (12) members, one of whom shall serve as
Chairperson.
Section 5. That the term of appointment of each member shall
commence upon approval of the appointment and continue until December 31,
1986.
Section 6. That the City Council hereby appoints Ann Glynn, Mike Davis,
Sue Ellen Hall, and Dean Redding as committee members who shall select among
themselves a Chairperson and the remaining committee members.
Section 7. That this Resolution shall become effective from the date of
its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of October, 1984.
