WHEREAS, an increase in the population and general
business activity in the City of Grapevine , in North Tarrant
County and South Denton County, has resulted in a substantial
amount of vehicular traffic that has a need and necessity to
traverse Grapevine Lake in a southeasterly direction into the
I City, and
�, WHEREAS, maintenance, heavy rains , and other causes have
brought about periodic interruptions of vehicular traffic
across Grapevine Dam; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine ' s Golf Course and Conven-
tion Center Concourse , located on the Corps of Engineers
Grapevine Lake property, suffer when the traffic is so inter-
rupted; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes strongly that the
construction and extension of Farm-to-Market Road 2499 from
its confluence with the Tarrant-Denton County lines in an
east to southeasterly direction to a point of intersection
with State Highway 121 is desperately needed to alleviate
the existing vehicular traffic problems and to provide for
access across Grapevine Lake during the aforesaid periodic
interruptions of vehicular traffic across Grapevine Lake;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council requests the Commissioners '
Court of Tarrant County to study the position of the City of
Grapevine and to petition the Department of Highways and
`�'"" Public Transportation of the State of Texas to approve this
proposed project for financing and construction in the near
future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1 . That the Grapevine City Council does hereby
find an urgent, pressing, and current need exists that calls
for the construction and extension of Farm-to-Market Road 2499
from the Tarrant-Denton County lines in an east to south-
easterly direction to its intersection with State Highway 121 .
Section 2 . That the Grapevine City Council respectfully
requests the Commissioners ' Court of Tarrant County, Texas ,
to review this matter and to petition the Department of High-
ways and Public Transportation of the State of Texas to
approve this project for financing and construction in the
near future.
