WHEREAS, the City Secretary was instructed to prepare a
suitable resolution expressing commendation and appreciation
on behalf of the Grapevine City Council to the
GRAPEVINE HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT OF MATH

for exceptional results in math testing projects throughout
�
the United States and Texas; and
WHEREAS, Grapevine High School students were rated second
in the State of Texas and 29th in the Nation on the annual High
School Mathematics Examination, in which 6 , 770 schools and
400 , 000 students participated; and
WHEREAS, the results of the State of Texas Mathematics
League Examination placed Grapevine second in the State, with
the number one ranking participant being a Grapevine High
School student; and
WHEREAS, one Grapevine High School student has been in-
vited to participate in the National Mathematics Olympiad and
five Grapevine students are invited to participate in the State
Mathematics Olympiad.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of the City of Grapevine, Texas by this resolution and public
record recognize the outstanding accomplishments and success of
the Grapevine High School Math Department and students dedicated
to the promotion of effective education; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon
the minutes of the Council and a copy thereof presented to the
Grapevine High School Math Department in recognition of their
most worthy achievements.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 3rd day of November, 1981.
