A RESOLUTION RELEASING THE PENALTY AND INTEREST
ON DELINQUENT AD VALOREM TAXES FOR THE PERIOD
OF JUNE I, 1978 THRU JULy 31,1978, DIRECTING THE
TAX ASSESSOR COLLECTOR TO NOTIFY ALL DELINQUENT
TAXPAYERSAND TO ACCEPT PAYMENT OF TAXESAND
PROVIDING THAT THIS RESOLUTION SHALL EXPIRE
AT THE END OF THE BUSINESS DAY ON JULY 31, 1978.
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Tarrant County, Texas, is a Home
Rule City operating under a Home Rule Charter pursuant to Article II, Section
5 of the Texas Constitution with all of the power and authority of local rule;
and,
WHEREAS, the Chart�er of the City of Grapevine, Section 9.17 thru
9.25 sets out the legal authority and requirements for the City in the field of
Ad Valorem Taxation; and,
� WHEREAS, the City Council has each year since the adoption of the
Chart�er levied and assessed ad valorem taxes by city ordinance pursuant to said
�; sections; and,
WHEREAS, the ordinances passed each year levy a tax and assess penalty
and int�erest on said taxes upon same becoming delinquent; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that the penalty and interests on
the taxes levied in same cases causes a financial burden that results in the taxpayer
being unable to pay the taxes,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that it is in the best interests
of all of the taxpayers owning property within the city limits of Grapevine, the
Tax Assessor-Collector be authorized and directed to waive all penalty and interest
on ad valorem taxes that are now delinquent provided the principal amount of the
taxes is paid on or before July 31, 1978.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS:

Section I . That the penalty and interest on all delinquent ad valorem
""� taxes is hereby released provided the principal on the taxes is paid on or before
July 31,1978. The Tax Assessor-Collector is directed to notify all taxpayers
who are delinquent in the payment of ad valorem taxes of the contents of this
resolution and the Tax Assessor-Collector is further authorized to accept pay-
ments of the principal as payment in full on or before July 31, 197$.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be effective from June I, 1978
thru July31, 1978 and shall expire at the close of the business day on July 31,
1978.
