WHEREAS , the Charter of the City of Grapevine,
Texas , provides that on the next ensuing first Saturday
�°� in April, there shall be elected the following officials
' fo-r the said City of Grapevine :

COUNCIL, Place No . 6
WHEREAS , said Charter further provides that the
election code of the State of Texas is applicable to said
election, and in order to comply with said code an order
should be passed establishing the procedure to be followed
in said election, and designating the voting place for
said election.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE , TEXAS :
Section l. That the Regular City Election for the
City of Grapevine is hereby called for April 7 , 1979 , for
the following :

Office of City Council Place No. 2
Office of City Council Place No. 6
Section 2 . All eligible City of Grapevine voters
shall cast their ballots at the Cannon Elementary School ;
1300 West College; Grapevine , Texas .
Section 3 . All absentee balloting shall be con-
ducted pursuant to and in accordance with the applicable
provisions of the State of Texas Election Code.
Section 4. The Chief Election Judge shall be
Jerry Spencer. Said Election Judge shall have the ability
to hire up to five (5) deputies to assist in holding the
election.
Section 5 . Al1 candidates must file their applica-
tion to become candidates with the Mayor or City Secretary
of said City at the City Hall , Grapevine, Texas , on or be-
fore the 30 days from the date of said election. That all
of the said applications shall be substantially in the
� following form:
"To the Mayor of the City of Grapevine, Texas :
"I hereby request that my name be placed upon
the official ballot for the election to be
held on the 7th of April , 1979 as a candidate
for (name of office)
of sai City. I hereby certi y that I am
eligible to hold said office under the Consti-
tution of the State of Texas and have resided
�,,, in this State for a period of twelve months
and six months in the City of Grapevine and
have been an actual bonafide citizen of the said
City for six months or more just preceding this
�"' application. "

That the City Secretary shall post in her office
the names of all candidates who have filed their applica-
tions in accordance with the terms and provisions of this
order, and said names shall be posted for at least ten (10)
days before said City Secretary orders the same to be printed
on the ballot for said election.
Section 6 . The City Secretary is hereby authorized
and instructed to provide and furnish all necessary supplies
and personnel to conduct said election. Said supplies and
personnel shall be furnished at the expense of the General
Fund of the City of Grapevine, Texas .
Section 7 . The City Secretary is hereby instructed
� to publish notice of the election once in a newspaper of gen-
eral circulation not more than twenty-five (25) days before
�� the election and not less than eleven (11) days before the
election.
Section 8 . This Resolution shall repeal every prior
resolution in conflict herewith, but only insofar as the
portion of such resolution shall be in conflict and as to all
other sections of resolutions not in direct conflict here-
with, this resolution shall be and is hereby made cumulative.
Section 9 . The Mayor shall issue all necessary
orders , writs and notices for said election and the returns
of said election shall be made to the City Council immediately
after the close of the polls and the completion of the count-
ing of the ballots .
