IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, CHAPTER 551.001 et seq, ACTS OF THE 1993 TEXAS LEGISLATURE, THE BOARD MEETING AGENDA, WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS 13th DAY OF NOVEMBER 2020 AT 5:00 P.M. ______________________________________ Kevin Mitchell, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met November 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Stewart Hall at The REC, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS Morgan Nichols (Virtual) Lavon Light Terry Musar Roy Robertson Ray Harris Dana Gibson Mark Assaad Joe Luccioni Christian Ross LIAISONS Lina Grace Assaad — Student Liaison Paul Slechta — City Council Becky St. John (Virtual) Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Kevin Mitchell, Director Chris Smith, Deputy Director Kathy Nelson, Capital Improvement Projects Manager Teresa Hiner, Administrative Manager Scott Hardeman, Hospitality Manager Amanda Rodriguez, Marketing Manager Hunter Hardeman, Recreation Supervisor Morgan Denny, Outdoor Program Supervisor Christian Ross called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. A moment of silence was observed Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the October 15, 2020 meeting minutes. Motion: Assaad Second: Luccioni Ayes: Nichols, Musar, Robertson, Harris, Gibson, Ross, Light, Luccioni, Assaad Nays: None Absent: None Approved: 9-0 Citizen Comments There were no citizen comments Miscellaneous Board Items: Lina Grace reported that the CHHS volleyball team is also going to the playoffs. GHS Varsity football team is first in district. CHHS football team is second in district. Both are going to the playoffs. CHHS is experiencing a large amount of quarantine. New Business A motion was made to approve the cancellation of the December 17, 2020 Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting. Motion: Harris Second: Assaad Ayes: Nichols, Musar, Ross, Robertson, Luccioni, Gibson, Light, Harris, Assaad Nays: None Absent: None Approved: 9-0 Presentation PARD presented on the CAPRA accreditation and process. The presentation was given by Chris Smith and CAPRA team leaders (Amanda Rodriguez, Hunter Hardeman, Scott Hardeman, Kathy Nelson, Morgan Denny). PARD Information Items Kevin Mitchell gave an update on the Old Senior Activity Center. The City has acquired the building back from the First Methodist Church. PARD is in the process of rehabilitating the building. It will house our events team, hospitality team, and add multiple rental spaces. In addition, the kitchen/dining area will be renovated and possibly be used for culinary arts classes. Ohlook Performing Arts will hold programs out of the building as well. Kevin Mitchell also gave a reminder that the Carol of Lights Drive Through Experience is Monday, November 23, from 1-5 p.m. The Mayor's Christmas video will debut on the Palace Theatre, as well as social media platforms. The downtown lights will then be turned on. The video will be played from November 23 to January 11. Kevin Mitchell also stated the City will be holding a reverse parade on December 3. Floats will be parked on the side of the Main Street, while citizens drive through to view them. Kevin Mitchell welcomed back GCISD Board Liaison Becky St. John.
