WHEREAS, the Charter o� the City of Grapevine , provides
that on the next ensuing �irst Saturday in April , there shall
be elected the �ollowing officials �or the said City of Grape-
vine :
COUNCILMAN , Place No . 3
I� COUNCILMAN , Place No . 4
�
���" COUNCILMAN, Place No . 5
WHEREAS , said Charter f urther provides that the election
code of the State o� Texas is appliceble to said election , and
in order to comply with said code, an order should be passed
establishing the procedure to be followed in seid election ,
and designating the voting place for seid election.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE , TEXAS :
Section 1 . That the Regular City Election for the
City o� Grapevine is hereby called �or April 6, 1974, �or
the following :
Office o� Councilman Place No . 3
O�fice of Councilman Place No. 4
Of�ice o� Councilman Place No . 5
Section 2. Al1 eligible City of Grapevine votes shall
- cast their ballots at the City o� Grapevine Fire Station
located at the corner of Main and Texas Streets , Grapevine,
Texas. The polls shall be open b�tween the hours of 7: 00 a. m.
and 7 : 00 p .m. on said date.
Section 3. All absentee balloting shall be conducted
pursuant to and in accordance with the applicable provisions
o� the State of Texas Election Code.
Section 4. The Chief Election Judge shall be Mrs. Charles
Goad Said Mrs. Charles Goad shall have the
ability to hire. three [3] number of deputies to assist
him in holding the election.
Section 5. All candidates must �ile their application
to become candidates with the Mayor and City Secretary of
said City at the City Hall , Grapevine, Texas , on or before
the 30 days from the date of said election. That all o� the
said applications shall be substantially in the �ollowing
form :
"To the Mayor o� the City of Grapevine , Texas :
"I hereby request that my name be placed upon
the o�ficial ballot �or the election to be held
; on the 6th day of April , 1974, as a candidate for
[Name of Office0 0�
said City. I hereby certi�y that i am eligible to
�� hold said office under the Constitution of the
State o� Texas and have resided in this State for
a period of twelve months and six months in the
City o� Grapevine and have been an actual bonafide
citizen of the said City for six months or more
just proceding this applica tion.

That the City Secretary shall post in his o��ice the
names o� all candidates who have filed their applications
in accordance with the terms and provisions of this order ,
and said names shall be posted �or at le�st ten [1 �) days
before said City Secretary orders the same to be printed
on the ballot �or said election.
Section 6. The City Secretary is hereby authorized
and instructed to provide and �urnish all necessary supplies
�� and personnel to conduct said election. Said supplies and
personnel shall be f urnished at the expense o� the General
Fund of the City of Grapevine, Texas.
Section 7. The City Secretary is hereby instructed
to publish notice o� the election once a week �or two [2]
consecutive weeks in a newspaper published in the City of
Grapevine, the first of such publications to be not less
than thirty-eight [38) days before the election.
Section 8. This resolution shall repeal every prior
resolution in conflict herewith, but only insof ar as the
portion of sUch resolution shall be in conflict and as to
all other sections of resolutions not in direct conflict
herewith, this resolution shall be and is hereby made cum-
ulative.
Section 9. The Meyor shall issue all necessary orders,
writs and notices for said election and the returns of said
election shall be made to the City Council immediately af ter
the close of the polls and the completion of the counting of
the ballo ts.
